Network products are products where the user is dependent on others choosing the same product and thereby creating an infrastructure around the network of users. An example of this is electric cars and the number of charging stations. Mads and Kristoffer's award-winning study deals with environmental taxation of network products. The study shows that conventional environmental taxation, which only takes into account environmental impact but excludes network effects, can lead to environmentally friendly technologies moving to slow on the market. It also shows how environmental taxation can be used to achieve the desired spread of more environmentally friendly technologies.
Mads Greaker and Kristoffer Midttømme will receive the Erik Kempe Award at the Annual Celebration Ceremony on 21 October at 17:00 in Aula Nordica.
