The presentation will feature the genesis of Dada in Zurich by showing not only the historical developments but also the fields out of which the Dada grew. Notz will present a setup, that makes it easy to demonstrate how Dada can help us, to gain the right attitude and style in a time, that has no style.
This lecture is a part of the programme in conjunction to the exhibition Dada is Dada, works from one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century. Dada began in 1916 in Zurich as a reaction to the conservative values of bourgeois society and conventional aesthetic ideals, to nationalism, and to the on-going First World War. In just a few years, the movement spread across the world. The exhibition is produced by Bildmuseet with loans from private collectors in Europe.
