Erik Sjödin / Our Friends the Pollinators
Workshop Saturday and Sunday 16–17 June
Drop in 12:00-16:00, Bildmuseet’s workshop area

Erik Sjödin is one of the artists in the Eco-Visionaries exhibition. His work is often based on scientific research and deals with the relationship between nature, human beings and other creatures. Through his art, Sjödin aims to raise philosophical questions on how we live today and how we will live in the future, but he also suggests solutions on different problems of the world.

To make it possible for flowers and plants to grow on Earth, they must be fertilized. This is a task done by so-called pollinators, like bumblebees, honey bees and wild bees for example. The honey bee is often spoken of as the most important pollinator, but recent research show that the wild bees are even more efficient and suitable for the task. Unfortunately, many species of wild pollinators are about to disappear completely, among other things due to lack of places to build their nests.

Help to improve the situation of wild pollinators by constructing nests for them! In artist Erik Sjödin’s workshop Our friends the pollinators, Bildmuseet’s visitors is invited to build bee houses of reeds, bark, hemp and other natural materials. On Saturday, the workshop is led by the artist himself, and on Sunday by Bildmuseet’s art pedagogues.
