IIASA is an international research institute located in Laxenburg, near Vienna, Austria. The institute was established in 1972 and carries out research on global questions that require a broader perspective or an interdisciplinary approach. Sweden has been an active member since 1976 and the Swedish Research Council Formas is now host for the Swedish membership.

Formas is now organizing a seminar about IIASA in Umeå to increase the awareness of the institute. Two of IIASA’s active scientists have been invited to present their research. At the seminar, there will also be an introduction to IIASA and a presentation of the opportunities that exist for Swedish scientists and PhD-students to work for shorter or longer time at the institute. After the seminar, there will be a poster session to present selected IIASA research. Formas invites all participants to coffee and lighter snacks.
