Environment Week on Campus 2009:

For the third consecutive year, the Umeå Academic Environmental Association (Umeå Akademiska Miljöförening) and Umeå University are presenting Environment Week on Campus.
The event is arranged in partnership with Culture on Campus, the Student Chaplains, Student Health Services, Umeå Union of Students, and several student associations and organisations. The objective is to raise awareness about environmental issues among the students and staff at Umeå University. This year’s programme has a ”sustainable development” theme. The lectures will be held in Swedish.

Tuesday 5 May – Theme "social"
12:10 – 12:50 PM
”Climate journey” Lecture and photo exhibition by Tom Juslin.
Location: Universum, Level 2.
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (every day)
Free bicycle servicing/repair on campus for students. Focus on “sustainable travel”. Information and contests as well as an electric car display.
Wednesday 6 May – Theme: "organic"
12:15 – 1:00 PM
”Food and Climate" Lunchtime lecture with meteorologist and author Pär Holmgren on his new book.
Location: Aula Nordica. In partnership with Din Bok. Get your free ticket at Din Bok bookstore or at Culture on Campus.
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Showcase fair at Universum
Associations and companies display their environmental practices with tasting samples and thought provoking information.
Location: Universum, Level 2.
Thursday 7 May – Theme: “economic”
1:00 – 3:00 PM (first hour for USBE students, second hour for others)
“One completely normal clean and white t-shirt" Lecture by Karin Stenmar, DEM Collective.
Founder of the clothing company Dem Collective. Her business idea is based on combining ecology, ethics, quality and carefully planned design.
Location: Lecture Hall A, Lindell Hall. Free entrance.
12:30 – 1.00 PM
Fashion show with organic and second hand clothing
Local shops display their latest selection of clothing with fashion models from the Umeå area.
Location: Universum, Level 2.
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Clothing exchange day. Take some clothes that you are tired of and trade them with others. The clothing must be clean and intact!
