Postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics
Umeå University is dedicated to providing creative environments for learning and work. We offer a wide variety of courses and programs, world leading research, and excellent innovation and collaboration opportunities. More than 4 300 employees and 31 500 students have already chosen Umeå University. We welcome your application!
One postdoctoral position is open at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, which is a stimulating international research environment with access to advanced equipment (www.medchem.umu.se) and via the location in the Chemical Biological Centre (www.kbc.umu.se) to technical platforms.

Half of the world population is infected with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. The majority of infected persons remain asymptomatic but a subset will develop peptic ulcer disease or gastric cancer. The candidate needs be proficient in microbiology and will use biochemical approaches, such as isotope binding assays, to test for acid sensitivity and strength in binding.
Candidates should have a PhD degree, or equivalent, in microbiology and/or biochemistry. The candidate should have extensive laboratory experience in microbiology, and biochemical methods, with emphasis on microscopy techniques and isotope based analyses and, in addition, statistics analyses in biological systems. The candidate would also need abilities to work independently as well as in a team, and skills in the English language, are essential.
The application should contain (1) CV with full publication list and copies of the relevant degree certificates and a list of university courses, (2) a description of research experiences, (3) a personal letter including a statement of scientific interests, why you are interested in project and how you can contribute to the project (no more than one A4 page), as well as (4) contact information of a referee.
