[2013-04-24] Erik Thomson, Associate Professor of History at the University of Manitoba, Canada, visits the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies and the research group Umeå Group for Premodern Studies from May 6th to June 3rd, 2013. During his time as guest researcher he will give a seminar with the title ”Jan Hoeufft and the Thirty Years War: An essay on diplomatic history’s limits”.
Erik Thomson is Associate Professor of History at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Erik’s main research area is the history of early modern Europe, with special interests in France and Sweden during this period. His current work revolves around how commerce reshaped politics in the early seventeenth century, looking particularly at ministers such as Cardinal Richelieu and Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna.
Thomson visits the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies as a guest researcher with the research group Umeå Group for Premodern Studies between May 6th to June 3rd this year. During his stay he will give a seminar om May 16th with the title ”Jan Hoeufft and the Thirty Years War: An essay on diplomatic history’s limits”.
