New agreement to reduce the amount of purchased energy
[2012-10-05] Umeå University has signed an agreement with Akademiska Hus (Building Administrators) to reduce the amount of energy purchased for the University Library. The long-term goal is that the university should be able to save energy equivalent to the annual consumption of 20 homes.
A pre-study came to the conclusion that the amount of purchased energy can potentially be reduced by 28 percent. This will mainly be achieved through a new technology to control the lighting.
The initiative is in line with Umeå University's vision for 2020 which says that the university’s buildings must be energy efficient. Moreover, the agreement follows the environmental goals that Umeå University has set, which state that the annual energy consumption should be reduced.
