Professor Yngve Gustafson named Västerbotten County 'Person of the Year'
[2011-12-30] The regional newspaper Västerbotten Kuriren has announced that the winner of the 2011 'Person of the Year" is Umeå University Professor Yngve Gustafson, who had the most votes among the ten candidates.
This year's Vasterbotten 'Person of the Year' is physician and geriatrician Yngve Gustafson, who has worked diligently forthe elderly's right to good health care. It was an overwhelming victory with almost half of the votes.
Yngve Gustafson is a professor of geriatrics at the Department of Community Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has been a physician for over 35 years and is a member of numerous medical boards, including the Academic Board of EUGMS (European Union Geriatric Medicine Society) and the Dementia Association - The National Association for the Rights of the Demented.
Has supervised over 20 doctoral students, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses and nutritionists. He has conducted quantitative and qualitative research from the thoracic surgery / anesthesia for elderly people to old people at home and in nursing homes.
