Walpurgis Eve on Campus on hiatus this year
[2013-04-29] Umeå University, Umeå Municipality and campus property owner Akademiska hus have jointly decided to take a break in organising the traditional Walpurgis Eve festivity on campus this year.
University Director Lars Lustig made an official statement regarding the decision:
"Walpurgis Eve on Campus has been a very pleasant and popular event. It has also meant that the event has grown in recent years with increased costs. Therefore, we have decided to take a break this year, and evaluate the manner in which we will work with Walpurgis Eve on Campus in the future.”
Umeå Municipality has information on its website about places where residents can gather to see the traditional Walpurgis Eve bonfire.
