The Faculties
A faculty is a collective organization for closely related units of education and research.
At Umeå University there are four faculties: the Faculty of Arts; Medicine; Social Sciences; and Science and Technology. (The Faculty of Teacher Education was 1 January 2009 replaced by the Umeå School of Education.)

Every faculty at Umeå University is headed by a Dean, who is also the chairperson for their faculty's respective Faculty Board. The Faculty Board is the decision making body for the faculty. The Board is responsible for undergraduate education, postgraduate education, and research within their respective area of study. At least three members of the Faculty Board are required to be students.
