Atomic and Nuclear Physics, 7.5 Credits
About the course
The course provides thorough theoretical and experimental knowledge of the atom- and atomic nuclei properties, the production/decay of radioactive nuclides and provides a good basis for further studies in radiation physics. The course covers atomic and nuclear models, x-ray fluorescence, radionuclides, decay processes, series decay, neutrons, fission, fusion, nuclear reactors, and various types of accelerators. Finally, also counting statistics and interactions in photon detectors are included. The course includes compulsory laboratory work.
