Getting to the University
Finding your way through a new city is not always easy. Therefore, on this page we have gathered information about how to get to the university from different arrival points in Umeå. If you are a student of Art or Design, please note that the programmes are given on a separate campus.
Note! As of June 1st 2010 cash is no longer accepted on the local busses or the Airport Shuttle! Most major credit/debit cards are accpeted, except on-line cards such as Maestro or Visa Electron.
From the Airport
Take the Airport Shuttle to the University. The bus leaves every 20 minutes during peak traffic time. A set timetable is available here:

Please note that departure times with a red v behind will only take you down town to “Vasaplan”. To get to the University you need to take an additional bus (see Arriving by long distance bus).
Arriving by long distance bus
You will arrive in the city centre, only a 5 minute walk from the local bus terminal at Vasaplan. Take bus number 1,5,6,8,9 to the bus stop called Universum at the university campus. Remember that cash is no longer accepted on the buses.
From the Train station
The train station, Umeå Östra, is located on the opposite side of the main entrance to the hospital with only a few minutes walking distance to the university campus.
If you are Studying Fine Art or Design
The Umeå Institute of Design and the School of Fine Arts are located close to the Umeå river. To get there you can catch the airport shuttle to the bus stop "Järnvägsgatan" and then take a short walk towards the river to arrive at your destination. If you arrive in Umeå by bus or train, you need to follow Rådhusesplanaden until you arrive at the library (Stadsbiblioteket) and then turn left into Vasaplan. From there you can catch the busses 1, 5, 6, 7 or 8 to get to the bus stop Järnvägsgatan.
