What’s it like to study at Umeå University?
“Consumer is the key” says a marketing adage. Students at Umeå University are the consumers, so they are given the best treatments. Treatments in the sense that, all the necessary materials for studies are available making studies very easy for the students. The studying system is well organized from lectures to examinations, i.e. lecture schedules, group studies, computer facilities; equipped library and positive student-lecturer relationship all make the university a very conducive place for studies.
Your impression of Umeå and the surrounding areas?
When I arrived in Umeå, I thought that apart from school I would not be able communicate easily in town because of language. Later on, I came to realize that everywhere I go people can understand me when I speak in English. Also, when I came to the cold climate, I thought that even in the rooms I was going to feel the same cold as outside, on a contrary, the rooms are very warm. More to that, after I had gone to school and started meeting people around the town, I came to realize also that, it is a very beautiful place with people from different countries of the world. In fact, Umeå is a universal town.
What you like best about the town of Umeå and its surroundings?
• The clean environment, which produces fresh air in the area that portrays the natural beauty of the city.
• The hospitable nature of the people, who are kind and respectful. In all the places I had gone to seek information, all the people I had met always made sure that I met my needs.
• The structure, where everything is well organized which has become a norm to the entire society.
What you would say to another international student thinking of attending Umeå University?
Umeå is a dark-cold town during winter but you need to bring your warm clothes only when you\'re outside. Nevertheless, I believe thinking of coming to Umeå University for studies is a brilliant idea that an aspiring student could ever imagine. With the educational-oriented nature of Umeå University, no student will finish a semester or more and ever regret studying here, instead the charming environment would makes the student always wanting to stay.
