Autumn 2013 Checklist for Admitted Students
Follow this simple list of things to complete your enrolment at Umeå University.
Reply to the Notification of selection results - Accept your offer
27 March - Master's programmes selection results published
21 March - Bachelor's programmes selection results published
In order to keep your place (seat) at a course or programme, you must reply to the Notification of selection results at Universityadmissions.se. Master's programme applicants have to reply to their offer until 8 April 2013, bachelor's programme applicants until 4 April 2013. If you see "Reserve" next to your course or programme in the Notification of selection results, this means that you've been placed on a waiting list for that course/programme. You must reply by early April.
Please note that this does not apply to exchange students.

Plan your Accomodation
The International Housing Office (IHO) offers guaranteed student housing to exchange students and full-degree students that are citizens of countries outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. In other words, you do not have to worry about lack of available places.

Accomodation information
Pay the first tuition fee instalment
For citizens from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland, you will receive infomation from Umeå University regarding payment of the first instalment of your tuition fees. You should pay these fees as soon as possible. You won't be able to have your residency permit for studies approved until you've done so.
Apply for residence permit in Sweden
Citizens from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland have to apply for a residence permit if they are planning on studying in Sweden for longer than three months. Once you have paid the first instalment of your tuition fee, you should immediately apply for your residence permit.

Register for the course or programme
You need to be registered for the course in the study documentation system in order to be able to follow the course and to get your results recorded during the course. For some courses and programmes, online registration is being used. For others, you may need to show up at a certain place and time in order to be registered. You will find information about what applies for your particular course/programme in the Welcoming letter, which may be displayed at the course/programme web page or otherwise distributed to you via regular or e-mail.Find your Welcoming letter
Activate your user account
As a new student, you need to activate your user account to get access to our IT services. If you have applied through universityadmission.se you can use the link below. If you are an exchange student, you will receive information about how to activate the user account when you arrive at the university.Activate your user account
Course literature
Most courses include a list of course literature used during the course. The course literature is available to borrow from the University Library. Once you have a library card, you can sign up in a waiting list online to borrow course literature.Umeå University Library
