Greetings from Vice-Chancellor Lena Gustafsson
Transcript of the welcome greeting in English
Hello dear students!
As Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University, I have the great pleasure of wishing you all a welcome to your studies here at the university.
So what have you arrived upon?
First of all, I hope that you can feel from the very first day that you are welcome, that you have come to enjoyable studies and that you quickly experience that these are studies that you will benefit from in your entire future.
So what does Umeå University represent?
We represent a wide scientific foundation that is very important for our education, and to the contrary, it’s also to state that you all have an impact on our university’s development. And this collectively means that we highly value the environments we are establishing at the university, in which we see before us a continuous development with a strong integration between: students, your studies, researchers, teachers, other staff, but also, to the highest degree, collaboration with various members of our surrounding community. And the surrounding community is important for us from a regional perspective, but also from a national, and certainly not the least from a European and international perspective.
So here you will experience international environments, and in every way we hope that precisely this integration and diversity will impact your studies so that you can access all the possible meetings that we surely hope to offer.
So with that, I wish you a heartfelt welcome to Umeå University and your studies here.
