Jubileumssymposium 2015
– Excellence by Choice

Fredag 16 oktober bjuder Umeå universitet in till Jubileumssymposiet Excellence by Choice. Deltagare är bland andra Emmanuelle Charpentier, som genom upptäckten av CRISPR-Cas9-enzymets mekanism ligger bakom ett biomedicinskt forskningsgenombrott.

“What enables groundbreaking research? What might attract the next generation of researchers? These questions are of fundamental importance to research and will be highlighted and discussed at the symposium Excellence by Choice.

Invited speakers include internationally leading scientists and research directors involved in recruitment and scientific policy guiding. Young group leader colleagues share their experience together with the successful MIMS group leader and role model Emmanuelle Charpentier, now known worldwide for her research on CRISPR-Cas9, a groundbreaking genome editing tool. 

The symposium is organised by Umeå University and its Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden – MIMS – the Swedish node in The Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine.

The symposium will be held in English.

Professor Emmanuelle Charpentier står bakom banbrytande forskning, bland annat upptäckten av detaljer kring enzymet CRISPR-Cas9s funktion, som redan fått omfattande spridning och öppnat upp nya möjligheter för den livsvetenskapliga forskningen och dess tillämpningar inom biologi och medicin.

Emmanuelle Charpentier hedras vid Umeå universitets årshögtid den 17 oktober 2015 med Umeå universitets EC Jubileumspris 2015 – The MIMS Excellence by Choice Programme. En gemensam donation från Kempestiftelserna och Knut och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse står bakom priset.
