For more than 20 years, SHARE has collected longitudinal data on health, socio-economic status and social and family networks from over 175,000 respondents in 28 countries. The tenth wave of data will be released early next year, opening new prospects for research on ageing in Europe. SHARE is a major pillar of the European Research Area and was the first ever European Research Infrastructure Consortium (SHARE-ERIC).

About the workshop

This workshop brings together researchers, data users and others with an interest in SHARE to learn about recent developments in the project and see how its data are being put to use. Participants will hear about the latest data collection efforts and methodological developments, as well as research presentations addressing key questions on ageing in Europe. The day also offers a chance to meet other SHARE users and exchange ideas for future research and collaboration.

Welcome

Whether you are new to SHARE or already work with the data, you are warmly welcome to join us in Gothenburg. Who is entitled to authorship? How should the order of authors be determined? What should you do when formal guidelines conflict with established practices in your field? And how can junior researchers navigate disagreements with supervisors and research leaders, particularly when they are in a position of dependence?

In June, the Council for the Promotion of Good Research Practice (REDA) hosted an open seminar on these issues. The seminar attracted considerable interest, with many participants, questions and lively discussion. REDA is now organising a follow-up discussion focusing on publication pressure, academic merit and the ethics of (co-)authorship.

The discussion will focus on how norms and expectations can vary between disciplines – and how differences can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or conflicts. Building on questions raised at the previous seminar, the discussion will also highlight some of the dilemmas that junior researchers may face.

Topics for discussion include:

Publication pressure and its impact on research environments

Common questions and conflicts relating to authorship

What is required to qualify for authorship, and how guidelines relate to established practices in different research fields

The benefits and drawbacks of publishing, and the responsibilities that come with authorship

How junior researchers can navigate disagreements with supervisors or other more senior researchers

The programme will begin with a brief introduction, followed by a panel discussion with members of REDA. Therefore it is in wide use in many fields such as; optical coatings, photovoltaic, semiconductor, photo electrochemical cells, optoelectronic, flat panel displays, data storage, super capacitor, gas sensors and many others. Thin Film Deposition technology can well be regarded as the major key to the creation of devices such as computers since microelectronic solid-state devices are all based on material structures created by the deposition techniques.

In this course, the following topics will be explained: Explanation of PVD technology in general, general characteristics, possibilities and limitations of PVD technology, and different kinds of processes within PVD technology (sputtering, cathodic arc, reactive sputtering, and evaporation).

Course Instructor: Roushdey Salh, the manager of NanoLab, Department of Physics, Umeå University.

Read more and apply on the course homepage.

Application deadline: 12 November 2026
</atom:content><place>NanoLab, Department of Physics</place><type>Course</type>
<startdatum>2026-11-18T09:00:00+01:00</startdatum><slutdatum>2026-11-20T16:00:00+01:00</slutdatum>

Make systematic reviews easier with Rayyan

The aim of this course is to show how to use Rayyan to conduct, for example, systematic reviews.

<atom:content type="html">
The aim of this course is to show how to use Rayyan to conduct, for example, systematic reviews.

Content

Overview of Rayyan.

Basic usage.

Interface and functionalities.

Who can participate?

Employees and students at Umeå University.
