Arctic Graduate School kick-off event

On September 1, doctoral students within the Arctic Research School are invited to a full day of introductions, seminars and networking activities. Other doctoral students with an Arctic profile are welcome to participate during parts of the day.

The Arctic research school with a focus on sustainable development is holding a kick-off day for its new doctoral students on September 1.

The day will be at Campus Umeå, ending with a group dinner. Remote participation over Zoom is possible.

Parts of the program during the day will be open to doctoral students with an Arctic focus from other institutions within the university collaboration The Arctic Five – a collaboration which in addition to Umeå University also includes Luleå University of Technology, the University of Tromsø - the Arctic University of Norway, the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi and the University of Oulu.

Doctoral students at other Swedish universities with an Arctic focus are also welcome to participate during parts of the day.

The afternoon features a hour-long public session which will be open to the public without prior registration, but which is also included in the program for registered doctoral students.

9:00 – 11:30 Presentation of the research school and its doctoral students

11:30 – 12:00 Lunch

12:00 – 14:00 Seminar together with Arctic research schools at the other universities within The Arctic Five (See separate calendar event for registration)

14:00 – 15:00 Introduction to Arctic research at Umeå University and internationally (See separate calendar event for more details)

15:15–16:00 Parallel sessions

Session 1: Presentation on the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and The Journal of Northern Studies.

Session 2: Meeting for supervisors led by Linda Lundmark, Head of the Arctic Research School (Room: SAM A 337)
