Diagnostic Radiology

The specialty diagnostic (medical) imaging includes diagnostic and therapeutic use of various types of penetrating radiation such as x-ray and gamma radiation, radiofrequency radiation, ultrasound is often bundled with contrast.

It can also be described as image based diagnostics based on conventional radiography, computer tomography (CT), ultrasound, nuclear medicine studies and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and their use in diagnosis and treatment.

This specialty, which has a central role in modern health care, including liaison with referring clinicians regarding the choice of radiological methodology and evaluation of visual and other information from studies with different radiological modalities .

Diagnostic radiology is thus a clinical specialty that has extensive contacts and cooperation with most other clinical medical specialties
