About the course

This course aims to provide the students with deeper knowledge about important, contemporary theoretical approaches in political science. The course shall contribute to the student's general knowledge about the wide range of the study fields in political science. The main structures and variations of theoretical approaches are outlined, as well as possible empirical applications. The course focus specifically on comparisons between different approaches and their mutual commensurability.

Required Knowledge

Political Science, 90 credits or Peace and Conflict Studies, 90 credits including an individual thesis of 15 credits, or equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary course English A. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.

Academic credits Applicants in some programs at Umeå University have guaranteed admission to this course. The number of places for a single course may therefore be limited.
