  • 3. Course start

    August 31

    Time: 9:15

    Location: S309

Schedule is published here no later than 30 days before the start of the course

The introduction to Approaches to Political Science takes place on Monday August 31 at 09.15 in s309. The course consists of six sections. Each section is devoted to a particular theoretical approach of which three are compulsory, institutional theory, rational choice and post-structuralism, and three are selected by the students together with the lecturer during the introduction. It is therefore important that you attend the introduction in order to have a say in the choice of approaches and for us to be able to divide responsibility for them in the group. The schedule, study guide and syllabus (including the list of literature) are available on Cambro, the course platform. Make sure you have the literature for the compulsory approaches when the course starts.

This course is planned to take place on campus, recommendations that concern social distancing must therefore be respected and followed. However, due to Covid-19, teaching formats can change. Make sure to update yourself on the latest information from the university, the Public Health Agency and the course instructor. If we are unable to meet on campus on August 31, you will be invited to a Zoom-meeting for the introductory lecture. The invitation will be available on the course platform, please make sure to check information on that platform on August 28 at the latest.

New at Umeå University

  • Information due to COVID-19

Thank you for choosing Umeå University! We really look forward to seeing you. Until October, most of the teaching at the university will take place online. But the library group study rooms and study spaces are open from the start of the semester. Please remember to keep your distance when using these spaces.

The exact plan for the rest of the autumn semester has not yet been decided. At some point this autumn, we will likely all be able to meet on campus again, but the way back needs to be gradual. The university is planning on reaching a new decision about the autumn semester in mid-August. Unfortunately, we can’t give you any clear information about how your specific education will be affected quite yet.
