About the course

The course contain A) A project work project where the students execute a laboratory or field project to answer an ecological questions. The project includes planning, sampling, processing, compilation and a written and oral presentation. B) Extended theory on the effects of size structured interactions on food web dynamics, the effects of cross ecosystem migrations and habitat coupling on food webs, behavioral dependent effects on food web dynamics and colonization processes and effects on species distributions in aquatic environments.

Required Knowledge

180 ECTS credits including Aquatic ecosystems 5BI180, 7,5 ECTS. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English A. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.


Academic credits Applicants in some programs at Umeå University have guaranteed admission to this course. The number of places for a single course may therefore be limited.
