Departing from the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) model, applications of the model on destinations are addressed. Theories behind and use of the TALC and other models of destination development is critically scrutinized. Interrelationships of destination development and regional development are addressed, i.e. economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of tourism in geographical contexts. Theories, policy and planning for tourism and regional development are addressed.
