In order to start your studies at the course, you need to register for it in Portalen. You need to be registered for the course in the study documentation system to be able to follow the course and to get your results recorded during the course.
To be able to sign in to Portalen and register online, you need to have activated your UMU-id user account (see below for more information).
Online registration in Portalen is open between the 14th and 21st of March. It is important that you sign in to Portalen and register during that time period, or otherwise you risk losing your place (seat) at the course.

Please use the declining function at Universityadmissions.se to remove a course if you are not planning on attending. You must also inform us that you wish to withdraw from the course.Close
You will find the course syllabus with literature here, you can search for a specific course syllabus by inserting the course code and/or the title of the course in the search engine. The course code for this course is 2fe064.
In this course we use the learning platform Cambro where you will find course schedule, instructions for exercises and messages from the teachers among other information that you need during the course.
You need activate your Umu-id before you can login to Cambro. The cambro page usually opens the same day that the course starts.

Note! If you want to drop-out of the course you can do that yourself in portalen within three weeks after the course begins, please also notify your teacher. After the first three weeks have passed you need to contact us if you plan to drop-out of the course (Notification for non-completion of studies).Close

International students are recommended to arrive at least a few days before the start of the regular term, preferably prior to the Orientation. If you fail to arrive on time, you have to contact the study counselor as soon as possible, but not later than one week ahead of the course start, or you may not be able to register for the programme.
If you will have housing through the International Housing Office you will receive information about your arrival in your offer of housing.
Don't forget - Umeå has cold winters, so pack accordingly with a warm jacket, warm shoes, gloves and hat.Close

As a new student, you need to activate your user account approximately two weeks prior to the term start in order to, for instance:
If you are a new student, you will automatically receive a user account when you are admitted, but you will need to activate it for it to function properly. You will not be able to activate it until approximately two weeks prior to the term start.

If you are having problems activating your account or logging in, please contact our Servicedesk. You will find answers to common questions, and can submit enquiries.
When you are on Campus Umeå, Umeå Arts Campus or Campus Örnsköldsvik, you will need a UmU card. The card has the following functions:
About one week after you have activated your user account, you will receive an e-mail about how to apply for the UmU card. It will be send to your student e-mail account (firstname.lastname@example.org), so remember to test logging in to confirm that it works.
