The course is an independent course aimed at students who have completed basic studies in healthcare and who wish to prepare for future international healthcare work in low and medium income countries and for advanced courses and research in the field of international/global health. International students are welcome to apply.
The starting point for the course is the multidisciplinary approach that is characterised by the "One Health" concept. This means that the course addresses various factors that influence the health situation in low and medium-income countries. It includes the significance of socioeconomic conditions, educational level, climate change and specific child vaccination programmes.
The course consists of two components: Global health epidemiology (4.5 credits), and Specific diseases (3 credits). The course is part-time (7.5 credits over the autumn term). It is organised by the Epidemiology and Global Health unit and the Department of Clinical Microbiology in collaboration.
A minimum of 90 ECTS in basic education in the healthcare field or equivalent foreign higher education. English proficiency equivalent to English A/5 from Swedish Upper secondary education.
