About the course

The course provides an introduction to the relationship between internet, social media and society. Topics such as digital media and societal change are discussed from a sociological perspective. Digital media's current social and cultural role and its effects are being analyzed. Special emphasis is to focus on the emerging research field digital sociology. The course also includes thematic areas such as power, democracy, surveillance, work and participation.

The course is taught in English.
