The course deals with the technical structure and function of MRI systems (nuclear magnetic resonance imaging), the significance of the pulse sequences for the information content of the MR-image and provides training in quality control and optimization of an MRI system. The course covers the main principles of MR-imaging, the main magnet, flow, homogeneity, shimning, gradient coils and field, the RF system, transmitter and receiver coils. Finally, the ultrasound technique is covered. The course includes compulsory laboratory work.
