  • Course syllabus

Course syllabus, schedule and bibliography can be found on the course website in connection with this welcome letter. You get the literature yourself. Note that not all literature is mandatory - what is to be read and at what time is made visible in the schedule. Occasional titles may also be added.
Therefore, start from the schedule when you acquire the literature. The schedule also shows which literature is provided by the department and which literature you need to obtain yourself.
Note that some literature can be difficult to obtain: therefore look for both university libraries, branch libraries, antique shops and (online) bookstores.

  • Study Interruption

If you have already registered for the course and decide to take a break, you register your study break in the student web.
If study interruption is reported within three weeks from the start of the course, there will be a so-called early study interruption and then it is possible to be admitted to the course again in the future.
The departments at Umeå University have an obligation to check on all courses which students remain on the course three weeks after the start of the course.
This means that the departments have the right to register study breaks for inactive students who are registered for a course.

International students are recommended to arrive at least a few days before the start of the regular semester, preferably prior to the Orientation. If you will have student housing through the Housing Office at Umeå University you will receive information about your arrival in your offer of housing.

Don't forget - Umeå has cold winters, so pack accordingly with a warm jacket, warm shoes, gloves and hat.
