About the course
The course includes issues concerning migration, integration and ethnic relations in social work. The potential possibilities and obstacles associated with these key-concepts and phenomenon are problematized at individual- and group-level. Structural conditions and social stratifications like gender, class, and generation are in focus for learning about migration- and integration experiences. Moreover, issues dealt with are, understanding migration-movement, mobility, transnationality, social and human rights associated with migration and flight and other needs for international and national protection. Also discussed in the course are various kinds of processes like segregation, rasisms and factors hindering or facilitating social integration. Moreover, the course deals with how norms, values, symbols, identity and diaspora influences ethnic relations.
