About the course

This course provides basic knowledge of personality psychology. The focus is on central personality theories and how these can be used to understand human behavior, both in general and in sports contexts. The course provides an in-depth study of the relevant concepts used in personality psychology, but also emphasizes the criticism that has been leveled at the various theories. To understand this critique, scientific theory, methodology and measurement methods in personality psychology are discussed. Focus is also placed on relevant themes such as heritage and the environment. Strengths and weaknesses of the various personality theories are discussed. The course content is problematized from critical perspectives such as gender and cultural perspectives. The course is given in English.
