About the course

The course shall give the student practical experience of research in Molecular Biology at Umeå University. The practise is being performed individually under the supervision of a research group leader at The Department of Molecular Biology and follows a plan prepared by the supervisor. It is imperative that the student takes responsibility for organising supervision by a research group leader approved by the department by at least one month before the course commences. The student is also supposed to participate in different activities in the research group like group meetings, seminars, and Journal Clubs.

Required Knowledge

20 ECTS from finished courses in Chemistry, including at least 5 ECTS in Biochemistry, or alternatively, 20 ECTS from a combination of finished courses in Chemistry and Physics and/or Mathematics, including at least 5 ECTS in Biochemistry; 45 ECTS from finished courses in Biology or Medicine, containing Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, and Physiology; practical experience of laboratory work corresponding to a minimum of 5 ECTS.
