Research Topics in Physics

  • Number of credits 3 credits

About the course

The course begins with an introduction to scientific methodology and a review of basic structures in a scientific article. Different methods are then described for searching for scientific articles and the students will work with exercises linked to this. After the introduction, the course focuses on current research areas in physics. Within each area, lectures are given by researchers where the students are given the task of studying and examining selected parts of articles in the field. Depending on the nature of the area, experimental tasks may also be included. The students present their work through oral presentations using digital tools. The students' work with the research area concludes with a lecture where researchers sum up the students' analyzes and give feedback. Each research area is treated with a similar approach: introduction lecture, article analysis and sometimes also experimental tasks, as well as a feedback lecture. The course ends with a lecture where all areas are summed up and linked to courses that are available in each area.
