This advanced level course aims to take a research perspective on theories and methods for interactive intelligent environments, in particular, Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) theories and methods for human-AI collaboration. This will be done from the perspective of solving societal and/or research-related problems. The student will deepen her/his knowledge about state-of-the-art in topics such as Activity Recognition, Ambient Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Internet of Things, Wearable Computing, Persuasive Technology, Decision-Support Systems, Intelligent User Interfaces, User Modelling, personalization, user adaptation, Machine Learning, semi-autonomous systems, computational social norms, ethical AI and agent societies. This course is a course where the student is encouraged to engage with a research group during the course, and target particular challenging and unsolved issues relating to interactive intelligent environments.

Type of studies
Univ: To be admitted you must have (or equivalent) 90 ECTS-credits including 60 ECTS-credits in Computing Science or two years of completed studies within a study programme (120 ECTS-credits). In both cases, includning the course Design of interactive intelligent environments (5DV195).
Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper Secondary course English A/5. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
Applicants in some programs at Umeå University have guaranteed admission to this course. The number of places for a single course may therefore be limited.
