The course deals with rendering of 3D models with a focus on real time. Illumination models, advanced texturing, programming of hardware accelerated graphics accelerations and spatial (3D) sound. It also covers data structures for culling and algorithms for speeding up rendering. Hardware and peripheral equipment for 3D interaction. It gives an overview of applications areas such as computer games, training simulators and virtual reality.
The course consists of a theoretical part and a mandatory part in which the student will learn to develop and use a rendering platform for real time graphics and VR.

Type of studies
Univ: To be admitted you must have (or equivalent) 90 ECTS-credits including 60 ECTS-credits in Computing Science or two years of completed studies within a study programme (120 ECTS-credits). In both cases, the studies must include at least 4.5 ECTS-credits within Scientific computing/Numerical Analysis (e.g. 5DV005 or 5DV154), the course Programming in Unix (5DV088), and a course within Computer Graphics on bachelor level (e.g. 5DV179 or 5DV111).
Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper Secondary course English A/5. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
Students applying for courses within a double degree exchange agreement, within the departments own agreements will be given first priority. Then will - in turn - candidates within the departments own agreements, faculty agreements, central exchange agreements and other departmental agreements be selected.
