Umeå has so much more to offer than the campus. Festivals, exhibitions, theater performances and concerts take turns at a high rate. Combine this with an intense nightlife and outdoor adventures just around the corner and you get an abundance of choices and inspiration.
In a seven floor building of striking architecture, situated on the Arts Campus next to the Ume River, lies the University's own museum. It has received a special commendation from the European Museum of the Year jury, and has also been one of the top candidates for the Swedish Museum of the Year Award as well as for the Council of Europe Museum Prize. In this cultural oasis for both students and residents, you can experience both contemporary and classic international art, photography, architecture and design. Or just enjoy a cup of coffee at the museum's lovely café.
