You have been admitted. If you want to keep your place (seat), you do not have to reply to your offer.
If you do not want to keep your place you should decline your offer by logging in to 'My pages' on universityadmissions.se, and follow the instructions. You should click "I wish to decline this offer" next to the course or programme you want to decline.
If you see "Reserve" next to your course or programme in the Notification of selection results, this means that you've been placed on a waiting list for that course/programme.

Registration takes place at campus when the semester starts, registration opens on August 24 and closes August 29. If you do not register by that deadline, you risk losing your seat at the program.
It will be possible to complete the registration during the welcome meeting on August 24.

The first schedule
The course "International Business Administration A" is a 30 credit course consisting of 4 modules offered one at a time after each other. Each module is 7,5 credit and lasts for 5 weeks. The first module is called "International Business Environment" and the schedule for that module will be published on the schedule webpage (see above) one month prior to the start of the module. The module starts the August 29.
After the welcome meeting on August 24 USBEs' student association (HHUS) will take over for the "Kick-Off" which will take place during the rest of the week.
These days are a great opportunity for you to get to know other students and to learn your way around Umeå and the university. The event is optional, and not mandatory. However if you cannot participate you must inform me! Schedule for the "Kick-Off" will be available on HHUS's website in July.
The International Office at Umeå University will arrange an
Orientation Course for international students. It is recommended that all international students attend it.

In autumn you will start with the course International Business Administration A IBP, 30 credits. Your will study the course from August 29 until January 15. This is the 1st semester of the program.

If you have previous studies that you wish to transfer within the programme then it is very important that you contact me as soon as possible before the program starts. We will then have a look if a transfer would be possible.Close
Course and program platform
For all the modules in this course we use the course platform Canvas.
There you will find all the information you need for each module for example schedule, assignment instructions, list of course participants and messages from the teacher.
You log into Canvas with your activated Umu-id at Umeå University student webb. The canvas page for a module is publiched at the latest the day the modul starts.
The International Business Program has also a special program page in Canvas. There I will post important information that concerns the whole program.
It is important that you start looking for housing immediately. It is very difficult to find housing on short notice. The best way is to create an account at www.bostaden.umea.se it is free to create a personal page and you start to accumulate queue-time from the first day that you create a personal page. There are also other options, see here.

Recommended arrival times
International students are recommended to arrive at least a few days before the start of the regular semester, preferably prior to the Orientation. If you fail to arrive on time, you have to contact the study counselor as soon as possible, but no later than one week ahead of the course start, or you may not be able to register for the programme or course.
If you will have student housing through the Housing Office at Umeå University you will receive information about your arrival in your offer of housing.

Moving to a new country with an unfamiliar language, culture and customs can be a challenge. We would like to help you and ease that challenge so that you can focus on your studies. Activate your user account
As a new student, you need to activate your user account approximately two weeks prior to the start of the semester in order to, for instance:
If you are a new student, you will automatically receive a user account when you are admitted, but you will need to activate it for it to function properly. You will not be able to activate it until approximately two weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Join a student union

Access to Microsoft Office 365
Students at Umeå University have free access to the programmes of Microsoft Office 365. This means that you have access to Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Whiteboard Forms, your student email and other services which can facilitate your studies and your collaboration with other students. To access Office 365 you need to activate your UmU-id.
Information due to COVID-19
Since 1 April 2022, COVID-19 is no longer classified as a threat to public health and a danger to society in Sweden. From Autumn semester 2022, no COVID-related measures will be in place at Umeå University.
Anyone who is ill or has symptoms that could be COVID-19 must still stay at home from work and studies. Unvaccinated individuals have a personal responsibility to maintain distance to others and avoid places that are crowded.
