Study Swedish

At Umeå University you can study Swedish without any previous knowledge of Swedish and reach the level of Swedish required to attend academic courses taught in Swedish. It is also possible to study a programme or a course that has English as the language of instruction.

If you are an asylum-seeker in Sweden and wish to start your studies before you have been granted a residents permit, you will probably be required to pay application fees and tuition fees.

If you are granted a residence permit in Sweden for other reasons than studies, you will probably not be required to pay tuition fees.
