Information for students, faculty and staff regarding COVID-19. (Updated: 26 February 2021)
Moving to a new country with an unfamiliar language, culture and customs can be a challenge. We would like to help you and ease that challenge so that you can focus on your studies. Therefore, we would like to offer you the possibility to take part in our Orientation, which begins just before the start of each semester or on the same day as the semester starts.
The Orientation consists of a series of lectures and activities that are designed to help you become acquainted with life in Umeå and studies at our university. It also offers a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. We strongly recommend that you arrive in time for the Orientation.
Under current circumstances the Orientation for international students will be arranged online, in order to follow the guidelines on social distancing. We have prepared the Orientation for you to get all the answers and support you need as a new international student at Umeå University. The Orientation Spring semester 2021 will start on Monday 18 January, the same day as the semester starts.
The first three digital events (in Zoom) will be webinars which runs from Monday – Wednesday 18-20 January at lunch time, each with a separate theme. You have the chance to get to know more about studies and student life at Umeå University and ask questions.
