In seminar form and in group supervision, the artistic design work carried out during the course is supervised, discussed and presented.

The gender perspective is an important part of the education and the course is conducted in such a way that both women's and men's experiences, knowledge, history and the significance of these are made visible and put into perspective both theoretically and practically. The course is also conducted in such a way that sustainability is made visible as an aspect of the artistic practice and attention is also paid to it both theoretically and practically.

Special written material may be distributed during the course.

Teaching is conducted in Swedish and/ or in English.

Examination modes

The student is examined continuously during the course through assessment in seminars where artistic work is presented and discussed orally both individually and in groups. The course is also examined in another way by presenting an artistic design work produced during the course.

In the course, the grade Pass or Fail is given. For students who have not passed the regular examination opportunity, if necessary, an additional examination opportunity is arranged within two months and a collection examination within one year.

A student who has passed an ordinary examination without a passing result and a re-examination for a course or part of a course, has the right to have another examiner appointed at the next re-examination, unless there are special reasons to the contrary. Requests for this are made to the faculty director of studies. Students have the right to be tested on the same syllabus as for ordinary examinations on at least two occasions up to two years after the first registration opportunity.

The student can apply for transfer of credits for all or part of the course based on previously completed education or professional activities. For more information, see https://www.umu.se/en/student/my-studies/transfer-of-credits/

Deviations from the syllabus' examination form can be made for a student who has a decision on pedagogical support due to a disability. Individual adaptation of the examination form must be considered based on the student's needs. The examination form is adapted within the framework of the syllabus' expected study results. At the request of the student, the course responsible teacher, in consultation with the examiner, shall promptly decide on an adapted form of examination. The decision must then be notified to the student.
