Contents

The course provides a platform for advanced studies in the field of form theory in connection to transportation design.

  1. Experimentations with form, 4.5 hp. This module includes several short practical exercises, where students work to explore form expressions and their semantics. This is done mainly using imagery and physical or digital sculptures. Students are introduced to the relevant working methods and are stimulated to communicate intensively about form.
  2. Creative project work, 3 hp. This module includes design and form theory, where students work to analyse and design a product incorporating the form language and references they experimented with during the first part of the course. The results are presented using two and three dimensional visualization material.

Expected learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student shall be able to:

  • Account for the importance of effective communication in form development.
  • Propose sculptures and visualization material that incorporate form theory considerations.
  • Generate personal reflection based on form and its relation to design and brand identity on a product.
