Doctoral studies

The Faculty of Arts have PhD studies in twenty different areas. Every year we have between twenty and thirty PhD students recieving their diplomas.

Doctoral education involves four years of full-time study, which includes a number of courses and a thesis. Besides acquiring in-depth knowledge of a field of study, you will also cultivate your critical and analytical thinking. During your education you get to solve problems independently as you prepare for a professional career within academia, business or the public sector. To be accepted as a doctoral student you are required:

  • to fulfil the entrance qualifications for the subject in question.
  • to show that you have other abilities that are necessary to complete the education.
