Meeting the world at Umeå University

NEWS Last Thursday, Lindell Hall was filled with the smell of exotic food, the sound of foreign languages, and music from from all over the world: Umeå University’s international students presented their home countries at Student Interaction Day.

Students from Czech Republic, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Peru, Spain and the United States participated. Visitors could for example get their name written in Korean, do a quiz on Finland, learn how to fold Japanese origami, and taste a lot of international specialties.

“With this day, we want to show how international Umeå University is. At the same time, our students from all over the world get the opportunity to represent their home countries,” says Elisabeth Nyström, student coordinator at the International Office.
