Nanotechnology is used in fields such as biotechnology, IT, and electronics, but also has applications in the renewable energy area. Nanotechnology involves the study and application of materials and processes at a nanometric scale, i.e., in billionths of a meter. Materials broken down into these sizes may have altered electrical, optical or mechanical properties. This means that materials with fantastic properties can be produced, and the possibilities of nanotechnology are almost limitless.
