The proteomics facility started their work in the autumn of 2003. In 2009, the facility was integrated into the Chemical Biological Center (KBC) at Umeå University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, and in 2012 it also became a KBC core facility. The work of the proteomics facility has from the start served the research in entire range of life science at Umeå University, the University hospital, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå. This work has included services, education, and collaborations, and it has successfully contributed to many research studies, and to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
