An inter-disciplinary research-group at Umeå University cooperates in a research programme exploring effects of local safety work.
The five-year research programme, funded by the The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), studies the effects of local safety work on injuries, safety awareness and behavior. Mainly the programme explores safety related injuries, local safety interventions and safety work, and also effects of safety interventions for preventing train incidents and floods. Furthermore, the programme studies the construction of local safety policy and work, in terms of the influence of the legislation, different safety actors’ intentions and various kinds of knowledge on two Swedish municipalities’ safety work. Within the programme methods are also developed for studying local safety governance and evaluation of local safety interventions.
