I am currently team member of the REPDEM/ERDDA project.

Previously I have been a Postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Geschwister Scholl Institute of Political Science of the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich. Before that, I was Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Comparative Politics of the University of Bergen where I have been also team member of The Politics of Inequality Project.

I got a PhD in Political Science from LUISS University (2017). My doctoral dissertation explored the non-economic and contextual determinants of electoral accountability in eleven Central and Eastern European EU member States.

Previously I held a position as visiting fellow at the Department of Government and IR of the University of Sydney to work with the Electoral Integrity Project directed by Prof. Pippa Norris (Harvard and Sydney Universities). After that I was also visiting researcher at GESIS EUROLAB in Cologne (Germany).

My research is mostly focused on the quality of democracy, political and voting behavior, policy responsiveness and political representation. My decision to broaden the scope of my research from electoral accountability to government responsiveness was pushed by the interest to understand how these two different dimensions of democratic quality are intimately related at different levels and how they potentially interact with one another in the democratic representation process.

Throughout my doctoral and postdoctoral academic training, I have gathered teaching experience, as both teaching associate and course coordinator. I had the chance to teach classes in political science, research methods, international public policies, political representation in comparative perspective, EU politics and German political system. I have taught at undergraduate and graduate level, and for different institutions (in Italy, Norway and Germany), both in Italian and English.
