Research focus on weather and climate change impacts on human health in Sweden and in low- and middle-income countries.
Associate Professor; PhD in epidemiology. Research focus on weather and climate change impacts on human health. Ongoing studies on weather-related mortality in northern Sweden during the demographic transition, using historical population and weather records, and on the role of specific weather types on mortality and morbidity in contemporary Sweden. A new focus is on public health adaptation to drought-related migration in East Africa. Other interests are related to weather and health in high-, middle- and low-income countries, to climate-sensitive infectious diseases in Scandinavia, communities' vulnerabilities and adaptation to climate change in low and middle income countries, and more generally to environmental health and sustainability in the Anthropocene.Close
