I am a postdoctoral research fellow interested in media, religion, and culture. Much of my research has focused on issues of power, gender, identity, and community through analysis of Mormon/LDS approaches to media technologies.
My forthcoming book (University of Illinois Press) is about the LDS Church's institutional response to new media across the 20th century and what this can teach us about the larger relationship between technology and culture in America.
I am also engaged in research on religious content moderation technologies and evolving family media practices.
Before coming to Umeå, I was an assistant professor of media studies at Southern Utah University, where I taught a number of media and communication courses.
