I am a biochemist and structural biologist with a deep passion for uncovering the molecular mechanisms of cellular processes, with a focus on membrane proteins and enzymes.
Through my research, I have gained diverse expertise in biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology. I obtained my PhD in biochemistry from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, where I studied protein translocation channels. This period equipped me with essential skills in membrane protein production, purification, and advanced biophysical characterization techniques. Following my PhD, I further expanded my expertise as a postdoc at Delft University of Technology, where I focused on studying the structural dynamics of membrane proteins.
As a postdoc at Umeå University, I use cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM) to unravel the 3D structure of membrane proteins. In a recent project, I focused on membrane protein transporters, successfully capturing a near-atomic resolution structure. This study provides insights into their operational mechanisms and regulatory processes.
